The incident took place Friday when Brent Watson, 25, of the Bronx, walked into the Chase bank on Greenwich Avenue and attempted to first deposit and then cash the check, Greenwich Police said.
Because Watson was not the actual account holder, bank personnel called the police.
Once police were on the scene, they arrested Watson who was charged with criminal attempt at larceny, identity theft, and forgery. He was held on $200 bond, which he could not post. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 18.
Police also arrested two accomplices who were waiting in a vehicle parked outside the bank, police said.
Siaka Traore, 21, of Brooklyn and Miguel Guzman-Richards, 22, of the Bronx, were both charged with conspiracy to commit larceny, conspiracy to commit identity theft and conspiracy to commit forgery.
Guzman-Richards was held on $1,000 bond, and Traore was held on $2,500.
They were also charged with marijuana possession.
